Welcome Team
What does a team member do?
Welcoming everyone to church prior to services.
Looking out for visitors/new people and ensuring that they are spoken to and welcomed; helping them to find a seat and someone to sit with if they would like this.
Answering queries and assisting people as required (e.g. showing where young church is; giving information on activities).
Encouraging new people to keep in contact and to fill in a contact form if they feel comfortable doing this.
'Welcoming' after services, i.e. looking out for visitors/new people or those on their own and speaking to them
Who would it suit?
People who are able to greet others in a friendly and appropriate way.
Those with a confident and open demeanour so that they are comfortable engaging with people that they don't know.
People willing to commit the time to be on duty both before and after services.
As this is a 'front-facing' role welcomers should be living according to Biblical principles and our statement of faith.
How is the role supported?
Annual training/refresher training, which outlines the role, including what welcomers should do and also what not to do/say to people.
When would someone be needed to serve?
One service a month; many welcomers cover more than one service each month.
