Richard moved to Worcester in 2006 with his wife, Carolyn, and two children. Since then he has grown to love the city and its people. Before becoming a Pastor he taught secondary school English, but in 2000 he hung up his red pen and joined the staff team at Kensington Baptist Church, Bristol. He trained here as Assistant Pastor for six years before being called to Woodgreen.
As Lead Pastor Richard is responsible for the strategic direction of the church. He oversees the preaching programme and church diary, leads the staff and eldership teams and interfaces with the local community. His passion is to see unchurched people become disciples of Jesus who think biblically, live missionally and love God passionately. He believes this happens when the Bible is explained clearly and accessibly and so he works hard to do this.
In his spare time, Richard loves teasing his kids, watching rugby and drinking good coffee. He also enjoys reading novels about the English Civil Wars (and Worcester’s pivotal role in these), watching TV box sets and fighting a losing battle with trying to keep fit. He tweets regularly and also writes a pastor’s blog.
